BWE is an ensemble of flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons and saxophones. We rehearse in Bloomsbury on Tuesday evenings. The ensemble gives two main concerts a year performing a varied repertoire of music that is either arranged or composed for this line-up of a wind orchestra. At least once each year BWE also performs on a bandstand in a London park. Our director of music is Michael McGowan is leaving soon and so we are now advertising for a new director of music.
The Bloomsbury Band of flutes and clarinets
The Bloomsbury Band is made up of players of flute, clarinet and bass clarinet. There are sometimes opportunities to play a second instrument such as bassooon, saxophone or piano. The Band rehearses weekly on Monday evenings in Bloomsbury. Directed by David Morris, the Band performs regularly in a variety of venues including churches and band stands.

Want to join one of our ensembles?
Our members are adult amateur woodwind players. Our two ensembles provide opportunities for us to develop our musical ability in relaxed settings. We are building a varied repertoire of woodwind ensemble music and we regularly perform in public. We do not audition but invite prospective members to a rehearsal so that they can try us out. Our popular sections are often full - if so, you can join the waiting list. Do get in touch.
