One group, two ensembles

Our members are adult amateur woodwind players. Our two ensembles provide opportunities for us to develop our musical ability and ensemble skills in relaxed and informal settings. We are building a varied repertoire of woodwind ensemble music and we regularly perform in public.

There are two Ensembles. Both rehearse weekly, one in Bloomsbury and the other in the City. Find out more about membership, rehearsals, music and concerts from the sections of this web site about the two ensembles.

Imaginative programmes

BWE and BWE2

Acknowledged for creating bold and distinctive programmes, the Bloomsbury Music Group collaborates with imaginative artists across the genres on a wide-ranging programme from arrangements of light music, core repertoire and works by contemporary composers.  The Group has commissioned three original works and nearly one hundred arrangements.

“…the hushed tones of Holst’s ‘Venus’ [from the Planets] opening with a melancholy alto sax and featuring a twinkling piano at the conclusion, highlighted the sincerity of the ensemble and found it quite moving…”
John Holland, Review for Winds magazine, Winter 2010
